In an ideal world, every audio track would download quickly and play back smoothly.  In fact, if you are using a high speed internet connection and the website is transferring data at a normal rate, you should not experience any problems.

However, some viewers have reported difficulties when trying to access some of the audio clips.  Here is a quick trouble-shooting list of possible causes and solutions:

First, all of these audio clips are in MP3 format.  Please make sure that your audio player supports this format.

Second, these files tend to be fairly large, and data transfer rates can affect speed and quality of playback.  Normally, your computer will attempt to "buffer" the file in its memory before it begins playback.  However, if this buffer is not working properly, then problems can result--such as distorted, inferior, or jittery sound.  Should this occur, please STOP the playback and then try to reload or REPLAY the same clip again.  It should sound somewhat better, since your computer should already have stored some of the file in its temporary memory.  If you experience problems again, please STOP the track and try to reload it again.

Thirdly, your computer's processor and amount of available memory can also limit playback.  If you are running other applications in the background, these can put a serious "drain" on your computer's resources.  If you are not using these applications, you may want to consider closing them, thereby freeing up some of your computer's resources for audio playback.

If you are still experiencing problems, then fortunately there is another option.  You can visit Hohner USA's website.  Shakin Smith is one of their featured artists, and they provide an audio clip in three different formats--RealAudio, Quicktime, and MP3.
